We carry out residential structural surveys and commercial surveys in Abbots Langley. Abbots Langley is a village which is situated in Hertfordshire. Abbots Langley is an old settlement and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. Abbots Langley is not far from the historical town of St Albans and is next to Watford and Hemel Hempstead .

The village name is recorded in 1045 in Saxon times as being called ‘Langelei', meaning a long meadow or long lea. The record exists because Ethelwine the Black and his wife Wynfelda gave the village to the monastery of St Albans . The Norman invasion of 1066 saw the land coming under the control of a Norman Abbot. The control of Abbots Langley under the Abbots continued up to the Tudor times.

At the centre of Abbots Langley is the church of St Lawrence the Martyr and the tower dates from the 12 th century, but it is likely that a Saxon church was on this land before the Norman one.

Abbots Langley is best known as being the birthplace of the only Englishman to become Pope in 1154.

In the 18 th and 19 th centuries lots of rich people had fine houses and estates built in the area as Abbots Langley was close to the capital city and was a nice area for a country retreat.

We always recommend that people have a building survey carried out by an Independent Chartered Surveyor. It is laughable to expect that a mortgage owned / estate agent owned surveyors will give impartial advice. Call an Independent Chartered Surveyor on 0800 298 5424 for an impartial survey.

As you will see from our example surveys below our surveys are detailed documents, which are written in plain English with lots of explanations of building terms and including sketches and digital photos. We write the survey in a way to enable you to understand the problem and how to resolve it. We always give an 'Action Required' for any issues raised and also give you an idea of the Anticipated Costs involved in sorting out any problems we find.
