We carry out residential structural surveys and commercial surveys in Northolt. Northolt used to be called Northala according to its entry in the Domesday Book of 1086. However, there was a settlement in this area in the Saxon days. The name Northolt means ' Northern Wood' and separates it from Southolt (now called Southall). From the middle ages farming was the main occupation and was still prevalent in the early 1800s. By 1876 though most of the varied crops had disappeared and was replaced by the production of hay. Farming continued in Northolt longer than other local towns and villages but by 1963 little remained and by 1990s it had gone altogether.

Over the centuries the population growth was slow and this can be explained by the lack of roads and the poor water supply which was only improved in the 1920s. The big population increase has been due to Northolt's close proximity to Ealing and road building.
