We carry out residential structural survey and commercial survey in Tring. Tring is a town which is situated in Hertordshire.
Tring is located about 30 miles from London and the train journey to central London takes about an hour. The town is located to the west edge of Hertfordshire. Looking on a map you will see that Tring sticks out from the rest of the towns in Hertfordshire and the area is known as the Tring Salient. Tring is not far from Aylesbury, which is a town in Buckinghamshire and is also pretty near Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire.
The town is set in the middle of beautiful countryside at the summit of the Grand Union Canal . It is also on the edge of the Chilterns, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. To the east of Tring is the Ashridge Estate with wonderful woodland to explore, to the south is Tring Park and further woodland and to the south west are Wendover Woods.
About one mile north of Tring are the Tring Reservoirs National Reserve, which is home to many water birds, including the great crested grebe and heron.
Tring is mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086. The town grew considerably when the Grand Junction Canal (now the Grand Union Canal ) started to be built in the late 18 th century and this brought trade to the town. The coming of the railway in 1835 saw further development of the town as London was now only an hour away.
In 1872 Lionel Rothschild bought Tring Park and gave it to his son Nathaniel. The Rothschild's influence on Tring was immense. New homes were built and a water supply was created for the town.
Nathaniel Rothschild's heir was Lionel Walter Rothschild and he had a fascination for the natural world and collected many items and began a museum which was later opened to the public in 1892. Lionel also collected exotic animals which roamed the park, such as kangaroos, cassowaries, giant tortoises and zebra. He also kept the glis-glis, which is an edible dormouse, in the Park which have now become established in the area and we will always remember as a young child visiting the stuffed animal collection and the famous flees at The Rothschild Natural History Museum and have been back many times to carry out surveys in the area.
Lionel Rothschild gave the Museum to the nation before he died and The Mansion was sold to become an Arts School.
There are a lot of Victorian houses around Tring with a good mixture of cottages and more modern houses and after World War II more industry came to the area and Tring grew into a larger town with new housing estates and the infrastructure that goes along with this being built over the years. Today, Tring is mainly residential with a busy town centre with retail shops and small businesses. The Charter Market is held weekly on a Friday and a Farmers' Market is held every other Saturday along with Tring Market Auctions. The town has an industrial estate and there are also small business units in the town.
Whilst we have carried out a number of surveys in the area we have also carried out work on Nursing Homes and Care Homes where they are carrying out alterations and improvements.
Tring is set deep in the delightful Hertfordshire countryside on the northern edge of the Chilterns in between Hemel Hempstead to the east and Aylesbury to the west just off the A41. The area is probably most noted for the Christopher Wren Mansion which houses the Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, in the building once owned by the Rothschild family, today a fantastic centre for music, dance, drama etc.
Tring has a wealth of magnificent residences in Marshcroft Lane, St Leonard 's and the areas of Wilstone and Astrope.
