We have reviewed several books that have been written on Dilapidations and also any other interesting articles we could find and we feel this will give a good range of views on the issues of Dilapidations and Schedules of Conditions and indeed Scott Schedules.

The format the book reviews take in each case are along these lines:

Overview

This gives a general overview of the book, which we feel is self explanatory.

Format

The format section looks at the format the book takes, i.e. we look at the cases in detail and how these are integrated into the main body of the test and other examples of how a surveyor should work on dilapidations etc.

Readability

Many of these books are large and whilst we fully appreciate that many are meant to be delved in as you require the information, the readability is still, nevertheless, very important.

Chapters

Here we look at the chapters in the book.

Sample

We look at a sample chapter in detail or in some instances a sample subject in detail to see how this is dealt with.

Review Upon Reflection

This section is really any afterthoughts we have had about the book.

There is not a scientific method by which book reviews have been carried out and in many cases we have only read parts of the books to get a flavour for it, but we hope this helps you in your choice of a dilapidations book to increase your knowledge in this area.

We would welcome comments from others that have read the books and / or the authors.

In each case we have made our best efforts to get agreement for us to review the books / articles from the authors / publishers. If any of the authors or publishers are unhappy with what we have prepared then please do not hesitate to contact us.
